sustainable futures for a community in great need
Kāpili Like is a Native Hawaiian 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2017 to support the needs of the native Hawaiians, the underserved, those in transition, and a population that has been displaced in our community. We practice and perpetuate the Hawaiian cultural values of Pilina (connection), Mālama (care), Kuleana (responsibility), and Kūpono (upright).
With the support of our funders and caring community partners our programs provide education, accelerated construction industry training, job placement, counseling, and follow-up support services. It is through these guiding principles our program sets the foundation for participants to continue on a pathway of leadership and success through hands-on trade training, career pathway support, social service referrals, service learning and cultural competency.
Mission
Kāpili Like’s mission is to create regenerative futures by empowering native Hawaiians to achieve career and life success through community builds and sustainable food systems, thus fortifying Hawaiʻi’s local communities.
oUR LOGO
Named in honor of the legacy of Hawaiʻi’s last prince, Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole Piʻikoi, who not only sought to secure lands and homes for our lāhui, but also its vitality as well. The esteemed work of Kāpili Like agrees with Prince Kūhiō, and through our programming we steward Hawaiʻi’s peoples into a future of great promise.
The chevron at the top represents the many hale and kauhale that have been built thorough the successes of our community partnerships and participants.
The smaller inverted triangle below each hale is the first subtle pule for our program participants, and in turn, Lāhui. Manifesting newly skilled participants for Lāhui, rooting down into themselves as kānaka, their new careers and begin to thrive.
Finally, this design is set in a niho shape, reaching up to the Lewalani. And when these niho are stacked up on each other, it creates the design seen above: Pā Piʻikoi. Thus representing the second subtle pule of longevity and prosperity of Kāpili Like’s goal to build a stronger Hawaiʻi.
Mahalo to our partners!
